Edgard Corona, Owner of Smart Fit, Leading the Fitness Revolution

 In the bustling fitness industry of Brazil, Edgard Corona
stands as a prominent figure and the owner of Smart Fit, a renowned fitness
chain. With a background in Chemical Engineering from the Fundação Armando
Álvares Penteado (FAAP), Corona’s entrepreneurial journey began even during his
college y ears, where he ventured into businesses such as material analysis
laboratories and clothing stores. In 1996, he decided to step away from the family
business and embark on a new venture – the establishment of the first Bio Ritmo
gym  in Santo Amaro. 

Although the gym initially faced challenges, Corona’s
determination was unwavering. He sought to innovate and revolutionize the
fitness industry’s business model . Learning from past experiences, he conducted
benchmarking and gathered valuable insights to steer his vision forward.
Opening a Bio Ritmo branch on Avenida Paulista, targeting individuals with
limited time for exercise, proved to be a turning point. The concept of a
fitness facility that catered to busy professionals gained traction, leading to
the expansion of the gym chain. 

Corona’s drive for continuous improvement took him overseas
to attend industry conferences and learn from global leaders . Armed with
newfound knowledge, he envisioned a new model for fitness facilities, giving
rise to the founding of Smart Fit in 2008. The establishment of Smart Fit
marked a significant milestone in Corona’s career, solidifying his reputation
as a pioneer in the field of fitness business management. 

Driven by the mission to democratize access to high-quality
fitness, Smart Fit has recently taken another momentous step by going public on
the Brazilian Stock Exchange. With the funds raised through the primary
offering, the company aims to further  its growth plans, including potential
strategic acquisitions and investments to strengthen its presence in the 13
Latin American countries where it operates.
